Lightning Detection Systems

The Fire Division has installed lightning Prediction and Warning systems at Colonial Park East and the McClure Road Soccer Complex in Lebanon.

The systems are installed and operational.
They are live from 7 AM until 9PM.

In the event the system detects the possibility of lightning within a 15 mile radius, it will start its process of alerts to warn everyone to take cover.

In the event of a "RED ALERT", (predicting imminent lightning strike), horns will sound once for a period of 15 seconds announcing the threat.

When the threat has passed, it will sound the horn three times, for five seconds each time.

The horn is a claxon sounding horn.
